Spring into Action: Eagle Valley Trail Gears Up for Warm-Weather Adventures
As the snow melts and the days grow longer, the Eagle Valley Trail (EVT) is springing to life—and we couldn’t be more excited to share everything happening along the trail as we head into the busy spring and summer months.

Getting Trail-Ready for the Season
Behind the scenes, the EVT’s hardworking maintenance crew has been out in full force, clearing winter’s leftover snow and debris to ensure a smooth, safe path for all trail users. They’ve also been busy installing new wayfinding signs, kiosks, maps, and donor recognition signage—including mile markers, benches, and more. These additions make it easier to navigate the trail, while also honoring the incredible community support that helps keep this project moving forward.
Honoring Our Furry Friends
We’re also excited to introduce more pet relief stations along the trail—an effort made possible by community support. Donors now have a unique opportunity to honor a beloved pet with a personalized plaque on these helpful trail features. It's a meaningful way to keep tails wagging while supporting the trail we all love.

Winter Maintenance Milestone
This past winter marked a major milestone for the Eagle Valley Trail. For the first time, we successfully kept the segment between Kayak Crossing and the Vail Bridge clear of snow and debris from the highway and open—thanks to our dedicated crew and support from our partners. This means year-round access to one of the most scenic and popular stretches of the trail, and we’re looking forward to building on this success in future seasons.
All Eyes on the Trail
Starting this upcoming summer, our maintenance team will be able to devote 100% of their time to the Eagle Valley Trail. That’s great news for trail users, as we’ll be able to respond more quickly to maintenance needs and keep the trail in top shape all season long.
Construction on the Horizon
And perhaps the biggest news of all: Phase 1 of the final segment is officially moving forward. This critical stretch—from Horn Ranch Open Space to the CDOT maintenance yard—has received a notice to proceed from CDOT. At a time when many federal funds are delayed, we’re thrilled that our project is moving ahead, with funding secured. The request for proposals (RFP) for construction has been published, and we expect to select a contractor by the end of April.
Whether you’re walking, running, biking, or rolling, there’s never been a better time to experience the Eagle Valley Trail. Thank you to our community of donors, volunteers, and trail lovers who make all of this possible. Spring is here—see you out on the trail!
