Pedal Toward Progress: Celebrate Bike to Work Day and an EVT Groundbreaking

We’re rolling into a summer of big trail progress, and you’re invited to be part of the ride.

Join the fun at a Bike to Work Day aid station on the EVT.

Bike to Work Day – Wednesday, June 25

Show up strong—for your health, for the planet, and for our shared vision of a connected community. Bike to Work Day is your chance to make your commute count and experience the Eagle Valley Trail in action. With just over 7 miles left to complete, every mile you ride helps spotlight the importance of safe, accessible, and sustainable travel across our valley.

Start your morning right by stopping at one of several aid stations set up along the trail.

  • VAIL – Mayor's Park

  • WEST VAIL – Donovan Park

  • AVON – Highway 6 Roundabout & Bike Path behind Shell station

  • EDWARDS – Kind Bikes and Skis

  • EAGLE – Town Hall on Broadway

Groundbreaking Celebration Tuesday, July 1 at 4:00 p.m.

Just days after Bike to Work Day, the Eagle County Board of Commissioners will host a special groundbreaking event at Mott’s Landing to mark the beginning of construction on Phase 1 of the final segment of the Eagle Valley Trail.

This $13 million phase marks a major milestone in the decades-long effort to complete the 63-mile paved trail, which will ultimately connect Vail Pass to Glenwood Canyon — with a spur to Minturn — via one safe and scenic off-highway route. Construction on this phase, led by Johnson Construction, is expected to be completed by July 2026 and includes significant engineering efforts such as large retaining walls between the Eagle River and Highway 6.

Join Us!

The public is encouraged to attend the July 1 groundbreaking. Parking is available at the Horn Ranch Open Space lot, but biking there is even better—ride the trail and be part of the vision.
